A first among the Renaissance brand, the hotel is clad in gleaming blue glass and as you venture into the interior, the common trademark 5 star hotel accents of marble, thick pile carpets, sweeping staircases and sparkling chandeliers are noted by their absence. So many Thailand luxury hotel reviews describe the contemporary Thai tones of earthy organic browns and creams. Don’t expect to find that palette at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel. Things are altogether more bold and wild, at times verging on wacky but at the same time balanced and unpretentious. Guestrooms are fun, funky and luxurious and don’t be surprised if the Royal purple hues within are contrasted with the white enamel of an exposed tub and exposed you may be! While more mainstream hotels take at least some measures to hide your vanity, the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel takes the attitude that if you are intimate enough to be sharing a bed, your other half will have already seen you “au naturel” and so shyness shouldn’t be an issue.
The hotel has four on-site restaurants serving Thai at Flavors Café, contemporary Chinese at Fei Ya, Italian at La Travola and poolside cocktails and light bites at H2O. The psychedelic Lobby Lounge also has a bar which is frequented by guests and trendy Bangkokians alike. It’s a great place to sit and pass the time watching the beautiful.
The pool is on the uppermost floor of the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel and is bathed in sunshine by day and mistaken by passersby for a disco at night with its striking light show. The Deluxe Guest rooms are a spacious 37 square metres and come with a king size or 2 double beds. The luxurious bathroom is laden in marble with a separate shower and tub. The rooms come internet ready and guests can enjoy premium movie channels as well as news, sports and pay-per-view.
For the higher end Club Level Presidential Suite, guests are greeted with an expansive 150 square metres of living space a king size bed and access to the Club lounge. Just like the smaller Deluxe Guest room, the bathroom in the Presidential Suite is decorated in marble with separate shower and tub, but with one other exclusive amenity, a whirlpool.

The Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel is almost right next to Chidlom Skytrain (BTS) Station in a very up-market district in Bangkok, known particularly for its shopping. Within easy reach are the likes of Gaysorn Plaza, Central World Plaza, Siam Paragon, Siam Square and onwards. If Bangkok Shopping is what you are here for this is exactly the place that you need to be.
But the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong is also extremely well connected by Skytrain, road and it is not far away either from the very fast and efficient airport rail link which is great if you are not heavily laden with luggage. Just one stop on the SKytrain takes you to Siam where the two skytrain lines meet. Going in the other direction to Asoke you can change to the subway (MRT) so getting around is easy.
Suvarnabhumi International Airport Transfers normally take around 40 minutes by car on the express way and you will be able to hail taxis throughout the day or night from straight outside the hotels front door but steer clear of the rush hours!
The location of the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel lends itself to leisure or business travel, shopping or whizzing around town to attend meetings. Even if shopping is not your favourite pursuit the glitzy, shiny malls in the vicinity have much besides including some great restaurants.
